Since 1987, GVSW has produced weldments for production, prototyping, fabrication and repair supporting a diversity of industry that include automotive, mining, pulp and paper, forestry, petrochemical, nuclear, steel processing, gear manufacturing, ferrous and non-ferrous foundries, vacuum chamber construction, pump manufacture and repair, aerospace, military, heat exchangers, consumer products, construction, advanced manufacturing, expansion joints.

Since inception we have produced welds, brazes, soldering and metallizing on a wide range of materials such as Tool Steels, Nickel, Nickel Alloys, Cast Iron, Copper, Copper Alloys, Aluminum and its’ Alloys, Magnesium, Austenitic, Ferritic, Martensitic and Duplex Stainless Steel, as well as Titanium in controlled atmosphere.

Precision weldments are produced daily on tool steels that include D-2, A-2, 0-1, H-13, P-20, 1045, 4140, 4340, 8620, 420 M-2 etc. Many of our proprietary procedures are conducted below phase change temperatures allowing tool steel components to be put back into service in minimal time.

Weldments range from that on miniature injection mould components welded with filler wires as small as 0.005” diameter under 40X microscopes, up to large mould and die sections weighing as much as 10 tons.

Utilizing the latest technology in micro laser welding allows us to precisely deposit metal onto surfaces at ambient temperature.

Advantages of this process include:

  • Very low risk of distortion
  • No discolouration
  • No preheat required even on high carbon, high alloy steels
  • Accurate weld deposits on both ferrous and non ferrous alloys (i.e.: aluminum, copper)

When heavy welds are required on massive components where preheat is essential, we employ the latest technology in induction heating with thermocouples attached to the actual components allowing accurate controlled preheat, weld interpass temperature maintenance and post weld cool down control.

To maximize weld efficiency we utilize support equipment that includes:

  • Manipulators
  • Weld positioners
  • Turn tables
  • Turning rolls
  • Robotics
  • Micro processer controlled indexible torch controls
  • Controlled atmosphere welding chamber
  • Custom built fixtures and tooling

Our long term dedicated and highly skilled staff include certified welding engineering technicians, technologists, certified fitters and welders, certified welding inspectors and non destructive testing technicians.

In addition, we retain professional weld engineering services and are able to produce a variety of weldments in accordance with Canadian Welding Bureau and American Welding Society Standards.

GVSW Ltd. quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2008. We have been ISO certified since April 2001.
